Top 10 Manga and Visual Novels That I Think Deserve An Anime
Let's face it; all anime/manga fans have that one manga that they think deserves an anime adaptation. Same goes for those who play visual novels; there is probably at least one visual novel that is thought to deserve an anime adaptation. As for me, there are plenty of manga and visual novels that deserve an anime adaptation but sadly don't have one. That is what we will be discussing today; I will be listing the top 10 manga and visual novels that I think deserve an anime adaptation. So, without further adieu, let's start with our honorable mentions!
Honorable Mentions:
Apothecarius Argentum (manga)
Higashi no Kurume to Tonari no Meguru (manga)
Tenshin Ranman: Lucky or Unlucky?! (visual novel)
Millenium Snow (manga)
Stardust Wink (manga)
Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode (manga)
Rakunou Milk! (manga)
+Anima (manga)
Idol Mahou Shoujo Chiruchiru Michiru (visual novel)
K-On! College (manga)
Whew, that's a lot, am I right? Well, let's get to the actual list!
10. My Girlfriend is the President (visual novel)
9. Sweet Magic Syndrome (manga)
(Sorry, no image here.)
I read the entire manga in one day last summer, and I found it to be one of the most adorable manga I have ever read! It was so sugary sweet that I think I almost got diabetes, and that's not an exaggeration, considering that some of the characters are from the "Kingdom of Sweets"! It's probably too short to get an anime, considering that the 38 chapters it has are pretty short and in 4-koma style (thus how I was able to read them all in one day), but an anime with about 7 minutes per episode, like in Wakaba Girl, could be a good compromise, right?
8. Aho Girl (manga)
(Sorry, no image here, either.)
I used to read each chapter of this manga as it came out, but for some reason, it seems that translation has halted as of February. It's frustrating, considering how funny this manga is! It centers around Yoshiko, a complete moron; she can be annoying at times, but her annoyingness has kind of a charm to it. Considering that this is from the same mangaka that penned Doujin Work and Mangaka-san to Assistant-san to, I would like to see how her antics take on an anime form.
EDIT 02/07/17: It looks like my prayers were answered for this one because an anime adaptation was just announced! I'm looking forward to watching it this summer!
7. Mars (manga)
Some people are going to be mad that this obvious choice was put so low on my list, but I just thought that there are some things that deserve it more. I read this manga through my friend who had all 15 volumes of it, and I enjoyed it, especially Rei and Kira's relationship; their love was genuine and had a good resolution. This manga has been out for 20 years now, so the chances of it ever getting an anime now are pretty slim; however, if Parasyte can wait for a couple of decades to get an anime, why can't Mars?!
6. Dracu-Riot! (visual novel)
You know, I kind of understand why it never got an anime; with an eroge in a setting where gambling and sex are legal, you've got to be careful about the decision of whether or not it should be broadcasted on televisions all over Japan. I've actually read the manga adaptation of this visual novel, and it's true that even that has some raunchy elements, too, although not really at an 18+ level. However, it was actually quite fun to read, and it expressed vampires in an interesting way; not trying to give out too much, you bite a vampire to become one instead of one biting you in this visual novel! Thus, I would like to see Dracu-Riot in anime form.
5. G-senjou no Maou (visual novel)
Due to age restrictions that I'm not willing to break, I cannot yet even buy this visual novel on Steam; that's a shame, because it seems like a really interesting visual novel with great artwork! It's interesting one enough for an anime for sure! I have heard that there were once rumors of an anime adaptation, but at this time, those rumors are false. I hope those rumors actually come true one day, though!
4. Oresama Teacher (manga)
(Sorry, no image here.)
I have only read one volume of this manga so far, but I can already see how much it deserves an anime adaptation. The characters are already fun to follow, the story's off to a great start, and the art.... of course it's good, considering that this is the same mangaka that did Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun! Like I said, I've only read one volume, but I bet my desire to see an anime adaptation will grow as this manga goes on!
3. Yotsuba&! (manga)
Speaking of manga by the same mangaka as manga that got an anime adaptation, we've got the ever-so-popular cute slice-of-life manga, Yotsuba&, which is by the same mangaka as Azumanga Daioh. Similarly to Oresama Teacher, I've only read a small portion of the manga (although it was a bigger portion with this one, considering I've read two volumes), but I can still see how much it deserves an anime. It doesn't really have much to offer besides watching the cute antics of the main character, Yotsuba Koiwai, but the mangaka, Kiyohiko Azuma, has managed to show off her cute antics correctly. Plus, from what I can see, Yotsuba& was received a bit better than Azumanga Daioh, which hints that I'm not the only one begging for an anime.
2. Nekota no Koto ga Kininatte Shikatanai. (manga)
Whatever studio decided to give it the anime adaptation it has now, I'd like to say, "SHAME ON YOU!" I mean, the anime adaptation of this manga is only 4 1-minute episodes that adapt the first two chapters, leaving some parts of those chapters out! When I first watched it, I was very disappointed, but I saw potential in it, which is why I went and read the manga a few minutes later; needless to say, my hunch for its potential was right, and I've been faithfully following this manga's translation ever since. Basically, the protagonist, Mikki, becomes interested in an elementary school classmate, Nekota, because of her being the only one seeing his face as a cat face! It may seem like a weird concept, but the manga is really good! The "anime adaptation", though, isn't. For that reason, I really want Nekota no Koto ga Kininatte Shikatanai to get a proper, probably-12-episode-long anime adaptation, and this is the manga that I want to get it the most.
Wait, so that could only mean one thing; the #1 thing I want getting an anime adaptation is a visual novel! What visual novel could it be if it were to be the one that makes me wanting a visual novel adaptation over all others? Well, it's....
1. If My Heart Had Wings (visual novel)
So far, I've only played two routes of this visual novel (Kotori and Amane), but this does not stop how much I want an anime adaptation of this. It's my favorite visual novel, after all; it's got an interesting story, beautiful artwork, and fun characters! Sometimes, whenever I'm reading through this visual novel, I can't help but think to myself, "Man, this is so awesome; imagine if it was in anime form!" I don't want it to be a half-butted adaptation, either. I want to see Aoi, Kotori, Ageha, Amane, Asa, Yoru, and all of the characters on the screen in the form of a genuinely good anime; it doesn't have to be better than the visual novel as long as I enjoy it! Luckily, I can see true potential in this visual novel as an anime; please, if there is someone from an anime studio in Japan that is reading this right now (not sure how you would, though, considering that this is in English), make it happen!
And that concludes my list of top 10 manga and visual novels that I think deserve an anime. If something in one of those mediums that you think deserves an anime adaptation isn't on this list, it's probably because I either haven't heard of it, am not sure if it really does, or am sure that it really doesn't. You know what I'm thinking in regards to those that already do have anime, though? Some of them need an additional season! However, that's a list for another post.

10. My Girlfriend is the President (visual novel)
There was once a phase in my life where I fell in love with the idea of this visual novel, but I could not play it for myself due to age restrictions and because I completely avoid eroge, hentai, and pretty much anything pornographic. Both reasons are still the case today, but doesn't the idea of a young girl being the President of a constitutional Japan sound interesting? It does, doesn't it?! That's why I'm clutching to the smallest of hopes that My Girlfriend is the President will get an anime adaptation. The reason why it's so low on the list, though, is because I know for sure it won't, but a girl can dream, right?
9. Sweet Magic Syndrome (manga)
I read the entire manga in one day last summer, and I found it to be one of the most adorable manga I have ever read!
