What I'll Be Watching During The Fall 2025 Anime Season
Well, shoot. Three blog posts in a row have just been about what anime I'm going to be watching in an upcoming season. I need to figure out a different topic to write for this blog and fast.
Anyway, y'all know the drill. I'm just going to be listing the new anime I'm going to be watching during the fall. I'm not going to include continuing anime this time; that's because, from the looks of it, the only anime I'm watching that aired during the summer that will continue into the fall is Princess-Session Orchestra (which I mentioned during my summer 2025 anime post and have nothing new to say about) and maybe Watari-kun's ****** is About to Collapse. I'm not entirely sure about the latter; I'd heard that it's going to have 26 episodes, but MyAnimeList seems pretty insistent that it's going to have 13. Maybe it's going to be 2 seasons with 13 episodes each? Yeah, given the quality of the anime so far, that would make more sense to me. Oh, and the second film in the Love Live Nijigasaki film trilogy is going to come out in the fall, but obviously, I won't be able to watch it when it comes out; thus, it won't be on the list. (The first film is already available with English subtitles, though. I should really get to it sometime.) With all of that said, let's get to what I'm watching during the fall 2025 anime season!
1. Alma-chan wa Kazoku ni Naritai
First and foremost, we've got this cute-seeming show about a robot girl and the scientists who created her, who she considers to be her parents....and well, she's not inherently wrong for that! Yeah, that's pretty much all that makes me want to watch it; it just seems like a cute family anime. Hopefully, I'm right about that!
2. My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's
Like Re:Monster, which I watched (and reviewed) last year, this is an isekai based on a light novel with a manga adaptation that a friend of mine loaned me at some point. Also like Re:Monster, I don't remember it being all that impressive. Unlike Re:Monster, though, it was animated by Sunrise, so at least I can confidently say that the anime will look good rather than just serviceable. Here's to hoping that I'm right on that!
3. Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love!
Over the past couple years, I've constantly been getting ads on Facebook about manga that's available to read on MangaPlaza. I don't know if I'd ever want to actually use MangaPlaza that much, as something about it just doesn't sit right with me, but some of the manga that the website advertised did stick out to me a little bit; Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love is one of them. Imagine my surprise when I found out that this manga was going to get an anime adaptation! I'm not opposed to the idea of an anime adaptation of this manga, though; after all, a little bit of body positivity never hurt anyone! I don't know how good it'll actually turn out, but it can't hurt to see, can it?
Huh, I kind of thought season 3 of To Your Eternity would come out faster than this, given how between the releases of seasons 1 and 2, there was only a year and a half (and a studio change). Well, it's finally coming out next month, so who cares? Admittedly, while I did like season 2 of To Your Eternity, I didn't like it as much as season 1, mainly because of a major reveal in that season cheapening the emotional moments that had happened up until that point. With that being said, season 3 seems to be taking place in the modern day, so perhaps the different time period could be a sign of the story going in a new and refreshing direction. Here's to hoping!
A 52-episode mini-anime for BanG Dream? Welp, looks like I've got another year-long commitment on my hands, like the one I already have to Princess-Session Orchestra! Seriously, though, between this, the upcoming MyGO/Ave Mujica sequel, and the very-recently-announced Mugendai Mewtype anime, BanG Dream fans are in for a feast! I'm not sure if I can justify my wanting to watch any of that, since I haven't played the mobile game for a while (and didn't even know that Mugendai Mewtype was even a thing until recently), but nevertheless, I hope that the year-long commitment that I'm making will be worth it in the end!
6. Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota
Back in 2022, an animated commercial for the Kashiwada manga was released, but just because it did didn't necessarily mean it was going to get a full anime adaptation; the manga ending just one year later didn't help matters, either. Despite all of that, however, it got a full anime adaptation, and it looks pretty cute. Sure, it's being done by a studio with only one anime credit (with that one anime seemingly not that well-received) instead of a years-long established studio like Seven Arcs (who animated the commercial), but you know what? That doesn't mean it won't turn out good! Perhaps this'll be the cute rom-com of the season. Who knows?
Wait, this was announced in 2024? I feel like I've been waiting for it longer than that! I mean, I haven't read the manga it's based on, but I do find the premise to be amusing. I mean, a maid bodyguard who has to pretend to be a robot? As someone who enjoyed Mahoromatic (which had an actual combat android becoming a maid), sign me up! Admittedly, out of the eight shoujo anime that are airing in the fall, this and Plus-sized Misadventures in Love are the only shoujo anime I'm watching, so I really hope at least one of them turns out good!
8. Let's Play
Show of hands: Who ever thought Let's Play, of all webtoons, would get an anime adaptation? Yeah, me neither. Sure, we've got quite a few anime adaptations of webtoons already, like Tower of God and The God of Highschool, and this also isn't the first time American media has gotten a Japanese anime adaptation, either. I guess Let's Play has a sizable enough audience in Japan to justify giving it an anime? Anyway, I'm probably looking forward to this more than the eventual return of the webtoon it's based on!
After going too long not watching season 2, I finally did so earlier this month in preparation for season 3! (To give you my opinion really quick, while it's not quite as good as season 1, I didn't think it was bad at all; I had a fun enough time watching it.) Over the past few days, though, I have been getting the feeling that I shouldn't have bothered. I've been hearing that the production isn't in the best shape right now, with the director even admitting that it won't measure up to season 1. Well, hopefully, it'll still be a fun enough watch. I don't want the time I spent catching up to go to waste!
10. Sanda
Christmas anime? Christmas anime.
Based on a manga from the Beastars mangaka? Based on a manga from the Beastars manga.
The trailer looks crazy good? The trailer looks crazy good.
....Yeah, I think that about covers it.
Gosh darn it! I can't use the "If I Had A Nickel" Doof meme for how many anime are getting a third season coming out in the fall, because this makes at least three! Oh, well. Between the three, this is probably the one I'm looking forward to the most; Spy x Family is always a fun time. Plus, this should be where the adaptation of Loid comes in, which is both really sad and really good. Please, Wit Studio and CloverWorks, do that backstory justice!
12. My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me!
If a little sister is a love interest in a romance anime, at least in this case, it's not the protagonist's little sister! Jokes aside, I read the first chapter of the manga adaptation a few years ago and thought it was alright. Not really anything special - just alright. Still, I might as well see if the anime is any better, right? Plus, although Blade has put out quite a few anime since 2016, this'll be the first chance I've taken to see what they can do!
13. Watashi wo Tabetai, Hitodenashi
Finally, an anime that Studio Lings has done without it being a co-production with another studio!
Finally, a yuri anime with mermaids!
Finally, a yuri anime that's also in the "Horror" genre!
Wait, no, there's already "Happy Sugar Life" in regards to that last thing.... Uh, next!
14. Yano-kun no Futsuu no Hibi
You know, despite the "Comedy" and "Romance" genres that this anime falls under, I was kind of worried when I first found out about this anime that it was secretly very dark; like, I kind of thought that Yano kept getting all of his injuries because he's a victim of domestic abuse or something. Upon further investigation, I've concluded that this isn't the case at all, which is a relief for those who just want a cute rom-com out of this. Still, I'd like to see what this anime is really like, so I'm keeping an eye out for it when the fall comes.
Aaaaand that's it! I'll admit that I kind of rushed through my explanations on what anime I'm watching this time around. Admittedly, I found that I don't really have a good explanation for why I'm watching certain anime this season. For that reason, when the Winter 2026 anime season rolls around, I think I might try something different with the list of anime I'll be watching then. I don't know what that "something different" will be (other than maybe sharing trailers instead of images), but we've still got plenty of time until then!
