Fairly OddParents's Cancellation + 5 Places Where It Could Have Ended

(Disclaimer: None of these images are mine!)

Oh dear Lord, you have no idea how long I've been wanting to do this. Well, I guess my first blog post of the year has to do with a once-popular Nickelodeon show that has soon gone to Hell. No, I'm not talking about SpongeBob SquarePants.

Yes, I am talking about The Fairly OddParents.

Basically, The Fairly OddParents is about a 10-year-old boy, Timmy Turner, who has fairy godparents who grant his every wish..... Oh, who am I kidding? No one needs me to explain it to them; everyone knows about it. There are a lot of people who grew up watching this show, and I was one of them; it wasn't my favorite show as a kid, but I really loved it. Heck, even when Poof came into the show, I still loved this show! A lot of people got angry when Sparky got put onto the show, but for some reason, I was fine with it; maybe it was just that I was going through a real dog-loving phase at the time. (No, not like that, you weirdo!)

Then came Chloe Carmichael.

One day, after going a long time without watching FOP, I saw her with Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda and thought, "Who the heck is she, and where the heck are Poof and Sparky?!" Luckily, I got a chance to investigate when I found Chloe's debut episode on my DVR.

Trust me, that had to be one of the biggest mistakes I had ever made.

The first thing that irked me was the fact that they changed the theme song not only visually, but also lyrically! Then came a girl who was being praised so much that it made me cringe a bit; she may have the same voice as Kagami Hiiragi from one of my favorite anime, "Lucky Star", but that didn't change how much I hated her. Then, Jorgen told Timmy that he had to share Cosmo and Wanda with Chloe because of a shortage of fairies; shouldn't the shortage have been prevented by....oh, I don't know....kids giving up their belief in fairy godparents? However, the worst part, for me, was how Timmy was treating Chloe like absolute crap. I mean, Chloe may have been unbearable, but Timmy's behavior was even more so; was Timmy always this much of an uncaring, selfish jerk?! (Plus, Cosmo taking selfies made me cringe a little bit. I mean, selfies do not have a place in a long-running show like this!)

I haven't watched FOP since.... or at least, not a modern episode.

In the time since, I've been seriously been thinking about possible episodes when FOP could have ended. I mean, ever since Chloe came around, even I, who was good with Poof and okay with Sparky, can finally see that this show needs to end. In my thoughts, I came up with a few possible episodes for it to end; I've also wanted to create a whole blog post about what I've come up with, but I never got around to it.

Then, I found out about The Fairly OddParents' cancellation.

Well, the cancellation hasn't been announced yet, but it was announced just a few days ago that it's moving its premieres to Nicktoons, Nickelodeon's sister channel; anyone who has noticed the pattern with Nick shows being moved to Nicktoons knows this means that it's going to be cancelled very soon, and to that, I even shock myself by saying, "Good riddance!" However, since it's being cancelled, that very well means that it's not going to end on a good note; this makes me not only more upset, but it also makes me more motivated to reveal my list to the world! Here are five possible Fairly OddParents episodes where it could have ended on at least a decent note in chronological order!

1. Channel Chasers

First of all, Timmy's parents found out about Vicky being an evil babysitter in this episode; even though their memories of Timmy going missing (inside of the TV) and their discovery (thanks to "Deep Toot") were erased due to a wish Timmy made in the end, that fact cannot be ignored. There is also the fact that we see Timmy as an adult in this episode, and at the end of the episode, we even get a glimpse of him and his future children (who also end up having Cosmo and Wanda as fairy godparents)! As the series progressed past this point, however, there were some contradictions made from the future depicted in this episode, and even the FOP Wiki states those contradictions. What could they have done to avoid those contradictions? It's simple; let the series end here.

2. Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3: The Jerkinators!

It wasn't too long after the third and final FOP crossover with Jimmy Neutron that Jimmy Neutron got cancelled. Well, here's a fun fact; did you know that FOP was also supposed to end with this episode? I know, shocking! However, Nickelodeon granted FOP another season in order to ensure its run. On one hand, if they hadn't done so, Poof would have never existed, but on another hand, it's kind of unfair, if you really think about it. I mean, how is it that Jimmy Neutron got to end with this episode - on a decent note - but not FOP? One may interpret this as Jimmy Neutron shouldn't have gotten cancelled and FOP should have, but what I mean by this statement is that at least Jimmy Neutron got to end decently! Meanwhile, FOP isn't going to end decently; it's going to get the big, old cancel.

3. Wishology Part 3: The Final Ending

Just from this episode's title alone, it seemed like not only a finale to the Wishology trilogy, but it also seemed like a "final ending" to The Fairly OddParents. I haven't watched any of the Wishology episodes in quite a while, but I remember them being quite epic. That's why I believe FOP could have ended here; it at least would have been able to end on a pretty exciting note.

4. A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner!

This movie alone shows a huge contradiction from the previously-mentioned "Channel Chasers"; Timmy is a 23-year-old man in this movie, and unless his future children, Tammy and Tommy, are six or seven years old at the end of Channel Chasers, it would be impossible to line this up with that future. (On the bright side, it answers the question of who their mother is.) It ended on a note that might generate some curiosity from nearly anyone who watches it, but personally, I think it's a decent note to end on; Timmy, Tootie, Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof are flying around the world and granting wishes for other people, and everyone lives happily ever after, right? Yeah, let's just leave the series at that and let fans speculate on what happened afterwards. We didn't need the other two live-action movies, especially with the even-more-contradictory (not to mention just plain weird) ending of the third movie.

5. Timmy's Secret Wish

In this episode, Timmy achieves what seems to be an impossible goal: making 1,000,000 wishes. However, it is soon revealed that this was made possible from a secret 1,000,001st wish, which is that everyone will stop aging in order for Timmy to keep his fairy godparents; as a result, everyone is fifty years older than they actually are! The world is reverted to how it should be, and Timmy gets his fairies taken away; however, this whole situation was resolved in a way that practically screamed, "Hey, want to end this show on a decent note? THEN END IT HERE!" I mean, a million wishes have been granted at this point; no matter how this became possible, that's a bit much, don't you think?

If The Fairly OddParents had reached a conclusion at one of these episodes or practically any other possible finale there could have been, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have reached the point of no return. Now, because Nick decided to milk it to the point where not even I enjoy it anymore, it's going to be moved to Nicktoons and ended on perhaps the poorest note for it to end on, especially since it's been going on for almost 16 years now; with how long it's managed to survive, I refuse to forgive Butch Hartman if he doesn't come up with a way to bring his most successful show to a peaceful resolution before it's too late.

If anyone who works for Nickelodeon is reading this right now, I want you to do the world a favor and, if this is what it's come to, allow Butch Hartman to at least create a proper finale. If SpongeBob SquarePants ever gets to this point, too, please do the same thing with that show; allow it to end on a good note. Thank you.
