Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race

Yeah, it's happening.

I can't believe I just found this news out yesterday during an innocent trip to Facebook.

You see, I've been a huge fan of the Total Drama series for a long time. To this day, I've seen every single episode of every single season, and I enjoyed every single one (yes, even All-Stars). That's why when this spin-off was announced.... I was actually a bit apprehensive about it, because what if the spin-off isn't as good as the original series? It's happened before to several shows! They make a spin-off, and it's not as good! On the other hand, though, I personally enjoyed The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, which is a spin-off of my favorite anime, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Thus, there's a chance that this spin-off of a certain spoof of reality shows could turn out good, and there's a chance it could turn out not as good.

Thus, today, a week before the premiere of Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race, I will talk about it a bit.

Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race is supposed to loosely be based off of another reality show called "The Amazing Race". I have never watched The Amazing Race, so I don't really know what that's like, but from what I've read on Wikipedia, both series are about several teams of two racing to different parts of the world. I'm not sure how many teams there would be in The Amazing Race, but in Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race, there will be 18 teams; thus, there are 36 contestants. Out of those 36 contestants, four of them will return from the original Total Drama series (Owen, Noah, Geoff, and Leonard), while the other 32 are new contestants. The prize for the winner, as with all other seasons of the original Total Drama series (except Total Drama Island, which was $100,000), will be $1,000,000. Oh, and did I forget to mention that there will be a new host named Don?

From what I saw in this preview, Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race seems promising. I personally would like to see what it would be like if Chris didn't host a season of Total Drama. (I'm not saying I hate Chris; I'm just curious to see what the series would be like without him.) Some of the new contestants seem interesting, too, especially Dwayne and Dwayne Jr. I mean, a father and son competing together in the Total Drama series? I want to see how their father-son relationship works out (as long as it's not an abusive one)! I admit, though, that I'm still concerned that the spin-off won't turn out as good. I mean, I really enjoyed Total Drama Pahkitew Island, the latest Total Drama season, but that one was promising since I first saw the first preview of it!

Still, there's only one way to find out if Total Drama Presents: The Ridonculous Race will be as good as the original Total Drama series, or it will be better or worse. According to Wikipedia, the Wiki, and almost everywhere else I've checked, this series will premiere on  September 7, which is a week from today. Of course, I plan to watch it, and I also plan to review each episode on my Review blog! (If you have no idea what I'm talking about, click here.) Well, I'd better stop typing and build up my hype for....
