A Good Day to be on Anime News Network

There's nothing like going to your grandmother's house after school while your mother is at work to get your spirits up. Do you know what else got my spirits up, though? Getting on the computer and going onto Anime News Network today. Normally, whenever I go onto ANN, there's nothing that really catches my attention. Today, though, was different. There was something that caught my attention.... four somethings, to be exact. Now, let me tell you what those four somethings are.

First, we've got an announcement of the sixth season of Teekyuu. You know, that absurd "tennis" anime with all of the fast talking? Yeah, I've watched every single episode of the first four seasons (spin-off included) and am currently watching the fifth season. A majority of the opening themes of Teekyuu are very catchy (especially the latest one), but beside that, I'm not really a fan of Teekyuu; all of the fast talking makes the series feel kind of rushed. I mean, I know that each episode's got only 2 minutes in it, but can you at least try to not put in more content than a single 2-minute-long episode can handle? Anyway, despite my complaints, I just cannot stop watching Teekyuu (probably because it's only got 2 minutes per episode), so of course, I will also be watching Teekyuu 6, which is coming out in October. Geez, when is Teekyuu going to end? Season 10?

Next, we've got the announcement for the anime adaptation of a visual novel called "Wagamama High Spec".

The visual novel's story revolves around Kōki Narumi, a high school student who also draws a manga serialized in a weekly magazine. Because the manga he draws is a risqué romantic comedy, he keeps this fact a secret from everyone around him, with his younger sister Toa and his best friend Mihiro being the only ones who know.

But one day, as the student council president Kaoruko Rokuonji is searching for male members for the student council, he finds out that Kōki is the manga's author. Kōki joins the student council in exchange for Kaoruko not revealing his secret. However, the vice president, Ashe R. Sakuragi, strongly opposes him joining, and in the midst of all this, various requests and troubles of students begin to pile up.

....Or so ANN says. It actually seems rather interesting. What really caught my attention, though, is that the visual novel isn't even out yet, and in fact, a release date for the visual novel hasn't been announced! How does whatever studio that plans to work on the TV anime expect themselves to do so without knowing the source material? Or maybe the people who work at the studio are the first ones to buy the game. Here's a food for thought; what if the visual novel and the first episode of the anime both come out on the same day? No matter what's happening, I'll be sure to watch the anime once it comes out!

Speaking of adaptations, we've now got the announcement for the anime adaptation of the light novel, Musaigen no Phantom World. I have no clue as to what this is about, and frankly, I don't care. I'm going to watch it anyway, and do you know why? It's from Kyoto Animation, for crying out loud! Whatever anime has Kyoto Animation as its production studio, I will watch it, no questions and no dropping! (I still haven't finished Nichijou or Hyouka yet, though.) In fact, the light novel is among those that was published by Kyoto Animation. If KyoAni publishes a light novel, that means an anime adaptation from KyoAni will be announced sooner or later. In order to keep track of that, I added the light novel to my Plan to Read list on MAL (although I really have no intention of reading it unless I really like the anime and the light novel gets translated), and sure enough, my waiting for it to get announced actually paid off! I can't wait to see what Musaigen no Phantom World is really about!

Last but not least, we've got Magical Suite Prism Nana. This magical girl anime from Shaft (the same studio that came us the smash-hit magical girl anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica) was announced back in 2012, with seven promo videos out before it seemed safe to assume that the anime project was dead. I was pretty excited about it, since I loved Puella Magi Madoka Magica and magical girl anime in general. However, when it seemed obvious that the anime wasn't happening, I gave up on it. However, late last month, Magical Suite Prism Nana was announced to have an OVA coming out sometime this year, and my excitement was rekindled! Today, it was announced that the OVA will have seven episodes, there will be a new character, and the directors and screenwriters will change every episode! Call me crazy, but I can't wait to see how the seven directors and screenwriters will kind of work together to put together the story that anime fans have been waiting for for a long time!

That's it for the main news that caught my attention, but let me give you a little bonus of what caught my eye. For God knows what reason, Monster Musume is quite a popular anime (while I'm the weird one who finds it to be quite average). I guess that would explain a certain 23-foot long Miia body pillow that was sold at Comiket. To anyone who wants it: Too bad! According to the article, said body pillow was sold out within the first hour of Comiket, even though it costed 100,000 yen (which equals $805 in the USA). I don't know whether it's the anime or the absurd length of the body pillow (although anyone who knows about this anime would agree that the length would make sense for someone like Miia), but either way, talk about a high demand!

Yep, today's been a good day to go on Anime News Network. If I keep hoping, one day, Haruhi Suzumiya season three's announcement will be shown on there! I hope....
