The (Potential) Revival of My Story Blog

Happy 2025, everyone, and welcome to My Blog About Whatever's 50th post!

(Jennette McCurdy, if you're reading this, I'm sorry for bringing up bad memories.)

Okay, "borrowing" that image and saying that it's my "50th Blog Post Spectacular" might not be the best thing to do. I mean, I've certainly done more than 50 posts over all of my blogs; heck, my review blog has 102 posts, as of this writing! Speaking of my blogs, there is one that I have been neglecting over the last nine-and-a-half years.

My story blog.

Since I was young, I've always wanted to do something creative with my life, and in my mind, the best way to do that was writing stories. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I was constantly coming up with different story ideas, whether they were original stories or fanfictions, and sometimes even writing them down. For that reason, when I started my story blog in 2015, I thought that I would have a lot of different stories written for the blog. Nine and a half years later, there are only two stories on the blog, and both of them were posted in 2015. It wasn't really that I had stopped writing; I guess I just didn't think to post them on the blog. As a result, this dumb, little story blog has just been collecting dust for the past near-decade.

That doesn't mean I want it to remain that way, though.

For the past year or so, I have been considering ways to revive my story blog. I have considered digging through my stuff and finding older stories to post, yet I'm not entirely sure if I want to do that. It's been a while since I've written anything complete, and given how much I'd like to think I've grown as a person, I don't think what I end up showing off will show off how much I've grown that much. I mean, I guess I could post them all, anyway, and make sure they're all out of the way before I write anything completely new. I don't know.

One thing I definitely want to do, though, is write multi-chaptered versions of the two stories that are already on the blog. I already said I wanted to do so for Awcrap (although in hindsight, I'm not sure if the concept would work for a full-length novel), but I've since also thought of how Heart to Heart could be extended into a multi-chaptered story. I really think some things could be done to add depth to Heart to Heart and not make it as much of a cry-bait story. For example, I could expand on Corina and Kyle's relationship before the latter's cancer diagnosis. Also, I really want to touch upon how Kyle used to be part of the swim team; I mentioned it in the story, but it was never really relevant to the story proper!

If I were to put each chapter of multi-chaptered versions of Awcrap and Heart to Heart on my blog, though, I feel like it would make publishing them as novels that you can buy and hold in your hands very difficult. I mean, what's the point of buying the book when you can go online and read all of the chapters for free? I don't really mind that much, though; neither of the original short stories show enough promise to be published in a full-blown novel, anyway. Plus, if I do end up being able to meet with a publisher and get a book published, I do have other ideas that I can work on!

So yeah. I'm not sure if I actually will revive my story blog, but it's certainly something I'm thinking about. Only time will tell what I decide to do!
